Grow in Christ

Mindy Clemons, Adult Discipleship Coordinator

In Bay County following Hurricane Michael, everyone is experiencing “house challenges.” Make sure you do not let not having a space to meet stop you from connecting with your circle of life-givers and finding opportunities to bless people. It is important to keep relationships alive… we call this “taking turns pulling each other out of the pit.”

Just as the hurricane stripped away the outside of many of our houses, leaving the insides exposed… so has the hurricane stripped away our personal masks, and given us the opportunity to be real and transparent about what is really going on in our lives. Embrace honesty, find people with whom you can be honest and let them encourage and support you. Our most significant spiritual breakthroughs often come when we are willing to tell the truth and allow God and others to minister to us.

Make sure you are deepening your individual relationship with God by meeting with Him daily – read and pray. If you need some accountability, it’s not too late to join us for The Grand Narrative Bible reading plan … get the scoop here.

A Church-wide Lent study will start March 6th. We had such a great response last year that we are doing it again.  The study will be J.D. Walt’s “Listen to Him” – following Jesus from the Transfiguration to the cross, learning to lean in and listen to Him. There will be a sermon series with devotional books available. We encourage you to grab a friend or two, commit to reading together, and meet once a week to encourage and pray for each other.
