Family Weekend at Dogwood Acres
April 9-11, 2021
For Lynn Haven UMC AWANA Club Families
What is Dogwood Acres?
Dogwood Acres (in Chipley, FL) is the outdoor ministry of the Presbytery of Florida. The venue provides a retreat environment for individuals and groups to grow in faith, enjoy wholesome recreation, and nurture Christian fellowship in a natural and unspoiled part of creation.
Dogwood Acres has 10 air-conditioned, very comfortable cabins. Each has 2 sides that are separated by a lockable adjoining door, with their own bathroom and 4 beds, sleeping 4-5 comfortably (cots are also available if needed). Families can sign up to reserve a family unit/cabin side. A total of 20 Family Units are available.
Who can come?
We are inviting any family that has a child in AWANA (Cubbies included). There must be at least one parent per family unit attending. Siblings who are aged out of AWANA can attend with a family unit. Note: Activities will be geared toward Cubbie/AWANA age kids.
The cost is $100 per person which includes everything for a memory-filled weekend with some of your church family. (2 nights lodging, 5 meals, snacks & all activity supplies). All meals will be cooked and served by the Dogwood Acres staff.
What will the weekend look like?
We are busy planning lots of activities for the weekend to include campfires, games, archery, land swing, canoeing, fishing, devotions, and so much more! Families will drive up to Dogwood on Friday afternoon between 3:30-5:30 to get checked in, settled and to check out the camp! We will have dinner and family activities that night. Saturday will be packed full of outdoor fun for the family to enjoy together, while taking time to appreciate the Great Creator of it all! On Sunday we will have a short devotion and prayer time together and be ready to have things cleaned up and leave by 11:00.
How do I sign up?
Click the Register Now link on this page and register each person who plans to attend. A $30 deposit per person is due when you register. The remaining balance must be paid by March 5th to keep your spot. We only have 20 family units available, so once those spots are filled we will start a waiting list.
Safety in these difficult times?
Dogwood Acres has been working hard to make accommodations to help everyone to be as safe as possible. The majority of our activities will take place outdoors where there is PLENTY of room to spread out and be socially distanced. The Mess Hall is able to seat 50 people at a time, but they have added many picnic tables outdoors so that everyone will have a place to sit at meal time. Cabins will be separated into 2 units, one for each family.
What if I have more questions?
