THE BEGINNING

Lynn Haven Methodist Episcopal Church was organized on June 11, 1911, with 75 charter members.  The church met at several different locations, then made plans to build our first church which was located at the corner of Pennsylvania and Ninth St. and finished in 1912.

As the congregation grew, plans were drawn in 1973 for a new church building which was built across the street at 108 E 9th Street.  Because of the continued growth of the congregation, in the 1990’s an addition was added to the Coe-DeVane building and two nearby homes were purchased to provide additional space for Sunday School classes and other church activities.

By the late 1990’s, we had expanded to three worship services, but were still filled to capacity.  In 1999, the congregation voted to relocate to an area that would accommodate the need for continued expansion. Forty acres were purchased on Transmitter Road for this purpose.

After much prayer and planning, the vision became a reality on June 20, 2004 and Lynn Haven UMC moved into our current facilities at 4501 Transmitter Road which is the first of three phases of building that are planned for this site.

Since 2004 our congregation has continued to grow, resulting in the addition of a fourth service to Sunday morning worship in early 2006.  Once again we find ourselves without enough room for worship and Sunday School.

More important than the buildings in which our congregation has worshiped over the years are the people that make up the family of Lynn Haven United Methodist Church.  We are a growing congregation with a vision to impact Bay County with the good news of Jesus Christ.
